Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ Sparks Major Tollywood Interest; Telugu Rights Sold for ₹48 Crore
Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming action drama Coolie, directed by blockbuster filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, continues to make waves well ahead of its theatrical release. Riding high on audience anticipation and Lokesh’s stellar track record, the film has now become the center of attention in Tollywood, thanks to an intense competition for its Telugu distribution rights.
According to industry sources, the Telugu rights of Coolie have been acquired by noted producer Sunil Narang for a staggering ₹48 crore. This makes Coolie the second highest-selling Tamil film in the Telugu market, underlining Rajinikanth’s enduring box office power and the strong anticipation surrounding the film.
The excitement is not just due to Rajinikanth’s star power, but also Lokesh Kanagaraj’s consistent success with hits like Kaithi, Master, and Vikram. With Coolie, the director is expected to deliver another high-octane, stylish action entertainer, adding to his signature cinematic universe.
The film features an ensemble cast including Upendra, Akkineni Nagarjuna, and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles, further enhancing its pan-Indian appeal. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, whose collaborations with both Rajinikanth and Lokesh have previously resulted in chart-topping albums.
Scheduled for a grand theatrical release on August 14, Coolie is one of the most awaited films of the year and is expected to open big in both Tamil and Telugu markets. With massive expectations and solid pre-release business, the film is well on its way to becoming another milestone in Rajinikanth’s illustrious career.
