Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan jointly inaugurated a state-of-the-art science center in Bommur, East Godavari district, on Thursday. Built at a cost of ₹15.20 crore, the center is envisioned as a hub to foster scientific curiosity, innovation, and creative thinking among students.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by BJP state president and MP Daggubati Purandeswari, Minister Kandula Durgesh, MLC Somu Veerraju, and MLA Gorantla Butchayya Chowdhury.
Speaking at the event, Minister Shekhawat emphasized the importance of hands-on learning environments for nurturing young minds in science and technology. “This center will encourage innovation-led thinking and open new avenues in STEM education,” he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan announced plans to name the center after renowned scientist Swami Gyanananda, a native of Goraganamudi village in Bhimavaram constituency, West Godavari district. He highlighted the significance of honoring local scientific talent to inspire future generations.
Green Initiatives for a Cleaner Future
In a parallel development focused on environmental sustainability, the foundation stone was laid for a Forest Academy at Diwancheruvu in Rajanagaram mandal. The facility, to be built at a cost of ₹18.34 crore, will serve as a training institute for forest personnel in modern conservation techniques and scientific forest management.
The foundation ceremony was attended by Minister Kandula Durgesh, RUDA Chairman Boddu Venkataramana Chowdhury, and MLA Bathula Balaramakrishna. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan stressed the need for expanding green cover to ensure a pollution-free environment for future generations.
“Increasing forest cover is not just a matter of environmental responsibility, but an investment in public health and long-term sustainability,” he said.
MLA Gorantla Butchayya Chowdhury also participated in the event and reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting science, education, and ecological well-being across Andhra Pradesh.
