To Preserve On-Screen Tension, ‘War 2’ Makers Keep Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr Apart During Promotions
In a bold and strategic promotional move, the makers of the much-anticipated action thriller War 2 have decided that stars Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr will not share any public platform or screen space together ahead of the film’s release.
According to industry sources, this calculated decision is designed to heighten the audience’s anticipation for the intense face-off between the two powerhouse actors. “Hrithik and NTR Jr will be promoting War 2 separately. They won’t appear together on any stage, in promotional videos, or joint interviews before the film’s release,” a senior trade insider revealed. “Their brutal clash is one of the biggest cinematic moments in recent Indian film history, and the makers want the audience to witness that rivalry for the first time on the big screen.”
War 2 is produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), a leading production house known for its blockbuster spy-universe films. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film continues the legacy of high-octane espionage thrillers under the YRF Spy Universe banner.
“The unique selling point of War 2 is the intense conflict between its lead characters,” the source added. “YRF wants to preserve that dynamic and deliver an unforgettable theatrical experience. The strategy is to withhold any signs of camaraderie until after the release.”
This approach is consistent with YRF’s promotional strategies for past spy-universe projects. For instance, War (2019) kept Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff apart during promotions, with their first public appearance together only happening after the film’s release. Similarly, for Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan’s pre-release interviews were replaced by curated social media content to build intrigue. The result was one of the biggest box-office successes in Indian cinema.
YRF also made headlines with Tiger Zinda Hai, where it cleverly used interconnected character arcs across the spy-universe to surprise audiences and build excitement organically.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra, War 2 is set for a global theatrical release in IMAX on August 14, 2025, promising explosive action, dramatic storytelling, and a cinematic showdown between two of Indian cinema’s biggest stars.
