The makers of the much-anticipated action entertainer Akhanda 2: Thandavam, directed by Boyapati Srinu and starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, have officially announced the addition of child actress Harshaali Malhotra to the cast. Harshaali, widely known for her endearing role as Munni in Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan, will play the character of Janani in this sequel.
The announcement was made by production house 14 Reels Plus on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating:
“A smile of an angel and a heart of gold. Introducing Bajrangi Bhaijaan fame #HarshaaliMalhotra as ‘Janani’ from #Akhanda2 #Akhanda2Thandavam. In theatres this Dussehra, 25th September.”
The film has already generated massive buzz among fans and cinephiles, especially after the release of its teaser, which coincided with lead actor Balakrishna’s birthday. The teaser revealed a powerful and divine avatar of the protagonist, featuring Lord Shiva’s mount Nandi flanking a Trishul, hinting at an intense spiritual and action-packed narrative. The action sequences, choreographed by renowned stunt duo Ram-Lakshman, promise to deliver adrenaline-pumping moments on the big screen. Music for the film is being composed by S. Thaman, who has previously collaborated successfully with Balakrishna and continues to be praised for his high-energy scores.
Akhanda 2: Thandavam marks the fourth collaboration between Balakrishna and director Boyapati Srinu. The film is a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda, and is expected to carry forward the franchise’s legacy with heightened drama, action, and emotional depth.
Produced by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the banner of 14 Reels Plus, and presented by M. Tejeswini Nandamuri, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Samyuktha as the female lead and Aadhi Pinisetty as the primary antagonist. Key portions of the film were shot in Georgia and at the sacred Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, adding both visual grandeur and cultural depth to the production.
Cinematography is handled by C. Ramprasad and Santoshh D Detake, while editing is overseen by Tammiraju. Art direction is by A.S. Prakash, ensuring a visually rich cinematic experience. Akhanda 2: Thandavam is slated for a grand theatrical release on September 25, aligning with the Dussehra festivities.
