Former Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao was admitted to Yashoda Hospitals, Somajiguda, on Thursday following complaints of general weakness.
According to the hospital’s official statement, preliminary medical investigations revealed elevated blood sugar levels and low sodium. All other vital parameters were reported to be within normal limits. Senior consultant and general physician Dr. M. V. Rao stated that KCR is under close observation, and medications have been initiated to stabilize his condition. “K. Chandrasekhar Rao is stable and responding to treatment. We are managing his diabetes and correcting the sodium imbalance,” Dr. Rao confirmed.
The news of KCR’s hospitalization prompted an immediate response from across the political spectrum. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy personally enquired about his predecessor’s health and directed medical experts to ensure the best possible care. “I wish for his swift recovery and hope to see him back in public service soon,” the Chief Minister said.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, also expressed concern via a post on X (formerly Twitter). He extended his wishes for KCR’s quick recovery and urged the state to facilitate top-tier medical treatment.
Meanwhile, a large number of BRS leaders and supporters gathered at Yashoda Hospital upon hearing of KCR’s admission. The situation turned tense when BRS leaders alleged that police attempted to detain several members of the party’s student wing, BRSV. Among those reportedly targeted were BRSV president Gellu Srinivas and vice-president Tunga Balu. BRS MLA and former minister Prashanth Reddy condemned the police action, questioning whether the arrests were politically motivated due to the scheduled public meeting of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday.
“This is not just disrespectful to our party, but a serious affront to democratic values,” Reddy stated.
As KCR remains under medical supervision, BRS leaders have urged party cadres to remain calm and united, while calling on authorities to maintain decorum during a time of concern for their leader’s health.
