Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a poll rally at Chilver Village in Medak district of Telangana on Tuesday, as confirmed by BJP sources. This marks Modi’s second appearance in the state since the announcement of the poll schedule last month.
Telangana stands as one of the southern states crucial to the BJP’s electoral strategy, aiming to secure a significant number of seats to fulfill its ambitious target of 370 in the Lok Sabha polls.
Home Minister Amit Shah, a senior BJP leader, had previously articulated a goal of securing double-digit seats out of the 17 constituencies in Telangana.
Shah is slated to campaign on May 1 for the party’s Hyderabad candidate Madhavi Latha, challenging incumbent MP Asaduddin Owaisi of the AIMIM.
In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP secured four seats, with Soyam Bapurao winning in Adilabad. The party has nominated sitting MPs in all constituencies except Adilabad.
BJP Telangana chief and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, contesting from Secunderabad, along with National General Secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar in Karimnagar and Nizamabad MP D Arvind, have already embarked on robust campaigning efforts in their respective areas.
