Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of Telangana responded vigorously to the Election Commission’s decision to prohibit its President, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, from campaigning for 48 hours, effective from Wednesday evening. The party raised questions regarding the impartiality of the Election Commission, pointing out its perceived lack of action against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

K. T. Rama Rao, the Working President of BRS, expressed skepticism regarding the Election Commission’s actions, questioning the fairness of the decision. He highlighted the apparent inaction towards the “provocative” remarks made by Prime Minister Modi, despite numerous complaints lodged by citizens. Rama Rao further criticized the Election Commission’s failure to address the alleged “abusive words” used by Revanth Reddy, referring to it as a conspiracy orchestrated by the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.

Rama Rao also questioned the reactions of the BJP and the Congress to KCR’s bus yatra, asserting that the people of Telangana would respond to what he perceived as arrogance and abuse of institutional power.

Despite the temporary ban imposed by the Election Commission, KCR, as Rao is commonly known, maintained his stance, highlighting the perceived inconsistency in the Commission’s actions. He cited previous instances where Revanth Reddy allegedly used foul language and threats against him without facing similar consequences.

The Election Commission’s decision barred KCR from engaging in any form of campaigning, including public meetings, processions, rallies, shows, interviews, and public utterances in the media for a duration of 48 hours, commencing from 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1st. In response, KCR affirmed his commitment to continue campaigning through BRS cadres for an extended period of 96 hours.
