Hyderabad: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing critique against the BJP during an election rally on Sunday, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of harboring anti-reservation sentiments and aiming to abolish quotas.
Speaking at the rally held in Nirmal under the Adilabad (ST) Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana, Gandhi asserted that the ongoing general elections signify a clash between two ideologies. He emphasized that while the Congress is committed to upholding the Constitution and safeguarding people’s rights, the BJP-RSS alliance seeks to dismantle it.
“Narendra Modi ji opposes reservation. He aims to abolish reservations for you. The paramount issue confronting the nation is the prospect of extending reservations beyond the current 50 per cent limit,” Gandhi stated.
Highlighting a key aspect of the Congress manifesto, he affirmed that if the party assumes power at the Centre, it pledges to surpass the 50 per cent reservation threshold and augment quotas. Furthermore, Gandhi alleged that BJP leaders share Modi’s stance against reservations, advocating for their abolition.
