Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his confidence in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the state government to probe the sexual harassment allegations against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, affirming that there is no necessity to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

In his remarks, Siddaramaiah criticized opposition parties, asserting that during the BJP’s tenure in the state, they did not entrust any cases to the CBI, often referring to it as the ‘Corruption Bureau of Investigation’. He highlighted the stance of former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda, who labeled the CBI as the ‘Chor Bachao Institution’, questioning the sudden change in attitude towards the CBI by some political figures.

Responding to the demand from JD(S) leader and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to transfer the case to the CBI, Siddaramaiah maintained, “There is no necessity to involve the CBI in this case. I have full faith in our state police and the SIT. They will conduct a thorough investigation within the framework of the law.”

While citing instances of cases referred to the CBI during the previous Congress administration in the state, Siddaramaiah questioned the outcomes, emphasizing the impartiality of the ongoing SIT investigation.

Asserting the government’s non-interference in legal matters, Siddaramaiah reiterated his trust in the state police and emphasized their capability to uncover the truth. He clarified that neither he nor Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar are directly involved in the investigation process.

Regarding allegations of political interference in the arrest of JD(S) MLA H D Revanna in a kidnapping case, Siddaramaiah questioned the necessity for anticipatory bail if there was no merit to the accusations, pointing out the court’s rejection of the bail application.
