Prime Minister Modi officially submitted his nomination from Varanasi on May 14th, accompanied by notable figures Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan. As per electoral protocol, Modi furnished his election affidavit to the Election Commission (EC), offering insights into his financial assets.
According to the affidavit, Modi does not possess any personal vehicles, as indicated by the “Nil” entry in the respective section. This may appear unusual for the Prime Minister of India; however, it is explained by the constant presence of a fully equipped convoy at his disposal.
Regarding moveable assets, Modi declared holdings amounting to Rs 3.02 crores, with only Rs 52,000 in liquid cash. Notably, one of his two State Bank of India (SBI) accounts holds a balance of Rs 7,000, while the bulk of his financial assets, totaling Rs 2,85,60,338, are in SBI fixed deposits.
The affidavit further reveals that Modi’s taxable income has seen a significant increase, doubling from Rs 11 lakh in the fiscal year 2018-19 to Rs 23.5 lakh in 2022-23.
