New Delhi: Members of Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest near Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Friday morning in response to the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal by Bibhav Kumar, an aide of Kejriwal.
Led by Mahila Morcha president Richa Pandey Mishra, the protesters gathered carrying bangles, symbolizing their demand for Kejriwal’s resignation.
Mishra emphasized that the Mahila Morcha intended to present the bangles to Kejriwal, criticizing his silence over the incident involving Maliwal at his official residence.
Earlier, on Thursday, Delhi Police registered an FIR following Maliwal’s statement, accusing Kumar, Kejriwal’s personal assistant, of assault. The FIR was filed after a detailed statement recording session conducted by a team led by Additional Commissioner of Police P S Kushwaha, which lasted nearly four and a half hours at Maliwal’s residence in central Delhi.
Kumar has been summoned by the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday to address the matter further.
