Hyderabad: Former Minister Ch Malla Reddy and MLA Marri Rajashekar Reddy Detained Over Land Dispute
On Saturday, May 18, tensions erupted over a land dispute involving former Telangana minister and Medchal MLA Ch Malla Reddy and his son-in-law, Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajashekar Reddy. The dispute centered around a 2.2-acre plot in survey number 82 near Suchitra in Kompally.
Malla Reddy and Rajashekar Reddy, claiming ownership of the land, took action to remove the boundary fence with the support of their followers, amidst the presence of police officers aiming to prevent escalation.
In a video of the incident, Malla Reddy can be seen entering the land and engaging in arguments with other parties involved. Despite police intervention, Malla Reddy asserted his right to protect his property against alleged encroachment attempts.
Accusing Congress party members including whip Lakshman and Srinivas Reddy of illegal encroachment, Malla Reddy asserted that the disputed land was purchased by him and his son-in-law 14 years ago.
The situation intensified when approximately 15 individuals claimed ownership of a portion of the land, alleging they had purchased 1.1 acres and were being threatened by Malla Reddy’s supporters.
As tensions escalated, police attempted to mediate and urged Malla Reddy and Rajashekar Reddy to resolve the dispute peacefully. However, as the situation became more volatile, both were detained and taken to the Pet Basheerabad police station.
Earlier incidents involving unauthorized construction along the highway, reportedly linked to Malla Reddy’s family, have added complexity to the ongoing land dispute.
