Hyderabad: Election Commission Grants Conditional Permission for Telangana Cabinet Meeting
The Election Commission of India (ECI) granted conditional permission to the Telangana government on Sunday, May 19, regarding its request to convene a state cabinet meeting.
Originally scheduled to take place at the Dr. BR Ambedkar state secretariat on Saturday afternoon, May 19, the meeting was canceled due to delayed approval from the polling body.
In granting permission, the EC directed the state government to limit discussions to “emergent and urgent” matters that cannot be postponed until June 4, 2024, and to ensure these matters are addressed in a “time-bound” manner.
“As per the directive, agenda items related to issues such as the common capital of Hyderabad (for AP & Telangana) and crop loan waiver will be postponed until after the completion of the Lok Sabha Election, 2024, in Telangana,” read the order issued by the ECI to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer.
