New Delhi: Delhi Police Investigates Assault Allegation at CM Kejriwal’s Residence

A team from the Delhi Police conducted an investigation at the official residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, as part of their probe into the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. Sources indicated that the police team seized electronic devices, including the CCTV DVR, to potentially retrieve footage related to the incident.

Maliwal had raised concerns about tampering with CCTV footage from the CM’s residence during the incident on May 13, where Bibhav Kumar, a close aide to Kejriwal, allegedly assaulted her.

Kumar was arrested on Saturday and subsequently presented before a court, which remanded him to five days of police custody. Sources noted Kumar’s evasiveness during interrogation.

The Delhi Police have filed charges against Kumar for molestation and attempted culpable homicide based on Maliwal’s complaint. The FIR includes sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 341 (wrongful restraint), 354(B) (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code at the Civil Lines police station.
