New Delhi: BJP Urges Chief Minister Kejriwal to Address Allegations of Assault by His Aide

New Delhi: On Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) urged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to address the allegations surrounding the purported assault on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal by his aide, Bibhav Kumar. The BJP’s call for action followed a significant protest led by Kejriwal near the BJP headquarters, condemning Kumar’s arrest in relation to the incident.

Maliwal accused Kumar of assaulting her on May 13 when she visited the Chief Minister’s residence. In response, the AAP dismissed these accusations, suggesting that Maliwal was influenced by the BJP to falsely implicate Kejriwal.

“Kejriwal should break his silence instead of indulging in theatrics and respond to specific questions,” stated Shehzad Poonawalla, the BJP’s national spokesperson, in a post on X. Poonawalla questioned whether Kejriwal had orchestrated the alleged attack on Maliwal and suggested that Kumar might be protected because of his knowledge of “dark secrets.”

“Why is the CCTV footage missing? Did Kejriwal assist Bibhav in destroying or tampering with evidence, including CCTV footage from Shoshan Mahal (Kejriwal’s residence)? Why release small clips instead of the complete footage?” Poonawalla queried. He also criticized the AAP for what he described as victim-shaming and inconsistent statements regarding the incident.

In a press conference, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, seeking re-election from North East Delhi, alleged that Kejriwal’s protest was an attempt to shield Kumar.
