Mumbai: The fifth and final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections commenced peacefully in Maharashtra on Monday, with 13 constituencies participating. Among the early voters were Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, various celebrities, and the general public.
Voting began at 7 a.m. across all six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai, with voters arriving early to avoid the heat.
Notably, Akshay Kumar, 56, cast his vote for the first time as an Indian citizen after renouncing his Canadian citizenship in 2023. He proudly displayed his inked finger to the media and encouraged others to vote in large numbers.
Other prominent celebrities, including Janhvi Kapoor, Farah Khan, and Zoya Akhtar, were also seen at polling stations, enthusiastically exercising their right to vote.
Key candidates from major political parties, such as Congress’s Varsha Gaikwad, Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Arvind Sawant, and City BJP Chief Ashish Shelar, also cast their votes.
The constituencies participating in this final phase include Palghar (ST), Dindori (ST), Dhule, Nashik, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, Mumbai North, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South Central, and Mumbai South.
