New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s response to the alleged assault on his party’s Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal, labeling it “belated and inadequate.” Kejriwal’s personal assistant, Bibhav Kumar, was arrested for the incident at the CM’s residence on May 13.

In an interview with PTI, Kejriwal called for a fair investigation into the Maliwal assault case, acknowledging conflicting accounts. He also clarified that he harbors no ambitions to become the next Prime Minister if the INDIA bloc wins the Lok Sabha polls, emphasizing his focus on safeguarding democracy from what he perceives as current authoritarian tendencies.

Responding to Kejriwal’s statements, senior BJP leaders criticized his delayed response and accused him of protecting the accused until recently. Union Minister Piyush Goyal stated, “This response comes too late. Kejriwal’s governance failures, including corruption allegations related to his residence and liquor policies, have disillusioned the public.”

Goyal further criticized Kejriwal’s comments on the judiciary and questioned the credibility of the INDIA alliance. He asserted confidence in the independence of the judiciary and dismissed allegations of political pressure.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami condemned Kejriwal and the INDIA bloc, describing them as unreliable and incapable of providing stable governance. He emphasized the need for a strong leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP leaders reiterated their stance that Kejriwal’s leadership is flawed and lacks credibility, emphasizing the party’s commitment to decisive governance and strong leadership under Modi.
