Sultanpur: The MP-MLA court has scheduled a hearing for June 7 in the 2018 defamation case involving Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and BJP leader Vijay Mishra, over alleged objectionable remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer, Kashi Prasad Shukla, submitted an application to the court, citing the Congress leader’s engagement in Lok Sabha election campaigning and requesting additional time for his appearance.
Judge Shubham Verma has set June 7 as the next hearing date.
In response, plaintiff’s counsel Santosh Kumar Pandey informed the court of Gandhi’s failure to appear, suggesting evasion.
Previously, the court issued a warrant against Gandhi in December, prompting him to suspend his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Amethi and appear in court on February 20, where he was granted bail.
