Hyderabad: BJP’s DK Aruna Clinches Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha Seat in Narrow Contest
In a tightly contested race, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) national vice president DK Aruna secured victory in the Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha constituency, defeating Congress’ C Vamsi Chand Reddy by a margin of approximately 3600 votes.
Mahbubnagar, the home district of Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, witnesses the first victory of a non-BRS party since the 2009 general elections.
The final vote tally will be finalized upon the release of official numbers by the Election Commission of India (ECI) after completion of the final round of voting.
The Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana comprises seven assembly constituencies: Kodangal, Narayanpet, Mahbubnagar, Jadcherla, Devarkadra, Makthal, and Shadnagar.
Election History:
- 2009: Kalva Kuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (TRS) won with 366,569 votes (39.56%), defeating Congress candidate Devarakonda Vittal Rao by approximately 20,000 votes.
- 2014: A. P. Jithender Reddy (TRS) secured victory with 334,228 votes (32.94%), narrowly defeating Congress candidate Jaipal Reddy by 2,590 votes.
- 2019: Manne Srinivas Reddy (TRS) emerged victorious with 411,402 votes (41.78%), followed by DK Aruna of BJP with 33.88% of the vote share.
