Hyderabad: Following AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s allegations that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders supported the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in the Lok Sabha elections, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accused the BRS of transferring votes to the BJP.

“BRS leaders compromised their integrity to ensure BJP’s victory. In seven constituencies where the BJP won, the BRS lost its deposits. Harish Rao in Siddipet transferred all party votes to the BJP, ensuring the defeat of Congress candidate Neelam Madhu Mudhiraj, who belongs to the backward classes. KCR also deceived Venkatrami Reddy to secure BJP candidate M. Raghunandan Rao’s success,” Reddy stated during a press conference on Wednesday, June 5.

Reddy highlighted that BRS’ vote share plummeted to 16.5 percent from 37.5 percent in the 2023 Assembly elections.

“KCR, KTR, and Harish sacrificed the dignity of BRS MLAs to support the BJP. KCR’s political maneuvers have backfired, leading to the party’s decline. It’s in ruins and won’t recover,” he said, countering KTR’s ‘phoenix’ remarks.

Regarding the Congress party’s performance, Reddy noted that their vote percentage in Telangana increased to 41 percent in the Lok Sabha elections from 39.5 percent in the 2023 Assembly elections. He attributed this to the successful implementation of the party’s five poll guarantees during the first 100 days of governance, which resonated with voters.

“We campaigned on our governance achievements, and the people responded positively, even granting us an additional Assembly seat in Secunderabad Cantonment,” he added.

Commenting on the BJP’s diminished success in the Lok Sabha polls, Reddy stated that the Indian populace has indicated that “Modi’s guarantee has expired.”

“Modi should resign from the Prime Minister’s post immediately and should not seek the position again after being rejected by the people,” he concluded.
