YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is currently embroiled in multiple longstanding CBI and ED cases concerning allegations of disproportionate assets. Over the past decade, these cases have remained unresolved.
During the last five years, Jagan Mohan Reddy has frequently sought exemption from attending CBI court hearings, citing his responsibilities as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. However, following a significant electoral defeat this year, where his party, YCP, secured only 11 seats, Jagan Mohan Reddy lost his position as Chief Minister and even failed to retain the role of opposition leader.
Consequently, without the official duties of the Chief Minister role, Jagan Mohan Reddy no longer has grounds to justify his absence from the weekly CBI court hearings. If the CBI accelerates the trial proceedings, it is likely that Jagan Mohan Reddy will be required to appear in person at the Hyderabad court every Friday.
