New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted inquiries on Saturday with an individual in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar regarding the UGC-NET paper leak case, according to officials.
The suspect, who allegedly shared a segment of the paper on the Telegram messaging service, was brought to Padrauna Kotwali in the district for questioning by the CBI’s anti-corruption branch team.
Sources indicate that the suspect had undergone coaching for the examination in Kota, Rajasthan.
The CBI initiated a First Information Report (FIR) into the UGC-NET paper leak case on Thursday, following a referral from the Ministry of Education.
The UGC-NET-2024 examination, administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 18 in two sessions nationwide, is intended for selecting junior research fellows, assistant professors, and PhD scholars.
Subsequent to the examination, the University Grants Commission received alerts from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) suggesting that the paper was accessible on the darknet and allegedly offered for sale at Rs 5-6 lakh on messaging platforms.
Officials from the education ministry noted that these inputs from I4C, operating under the Union home ministry, “prima facie indicate that the integrity of the examination may have been compromised.”
