Mumbai: India secured their second ICC T20 World Cup championship with a seven-run victory over South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Jasprit Bumrah initiated the breakthrough for India by dismissing Reeza Hendricks for four in the second over. Arshdeep Singh further strengthened India’s position in the third over by getting South Africa captain Aiden Markram caught behind for four.
Axar Patel disrupted a threatening third-wicket partnership by clean bowling Tristan Stubbs, who scored 31 runs. Stubbs had added 58 runs with Quinton de Kock, who remained unbeaten on 30, with Heinrich Klaasen not out on eight at the other end.
