The newly formed coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, comprising the TDP, Janasena, and BJP, has initiated decisive actions against illegal encroachments and constructions allegedly carried out by leaders and supporters of the previous YSRCP administration. This crackdown is perceived as a direct response to widespread accusations of corruption and land appropriation during the former regime.
Recently in Kakinada, the coalition government commenced the demolition of illegal constructions associated with former YSRCP MLA Dwarampudi and his associate Balla Suribabu, signaling its commitment to hold the previous administration accountable. This action follows the dismantling of unlawfully constructed YSRCP party offices throughout the state, including one in Tadepalli.
These measures have sparked concerns within the YSRCP, with party leaders questioning the validity of these demolitions. However, the coalition asserts that it is simply upholding the rule of law and addressing grievances of those allegedly impacted by the YSRCP’s governance, illustrating a stark contrast to the previous administration’s approach.
While coalition leaders, including CM Chandrababu and Deputy CM Pawan, have affirmed their intent not to target former government officials akin to past practices, they emphasize that legal processes must proceed unhindered to prevent unlawful behaviors from becoming normalized among offenders.
