Arvind Kejriwal Announces New Scheme for Women Ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections
Ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections in February, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal unveiled a new welfare scheme for women on Thursday, December 12. The scheme promises a direct bank deposit of Rs 1,000 to eligible women beneficiaries in Delhi. Kejriwal assured that if the AAP retains power in the state, this deposit will be increased to Rs 2,100 post-elections.
The announcement comes after the Delhi government’s cabinet passed a proposal on the initiative. Kejriwal highlighted that he had originally planned to launch the scheme in March but was unable to do so due to being jailed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the alleged Delhi liquor policy case.
The move is part of the AAP’s ongoing push to garner support among women voters as the city heads into crucial elections, with the party emphasizing its commitment to welfare and financial support for women in Delhi.
