West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Announces Key Removals in Response to Junior Doctors’ Protests
Kolkata: In a significant development on Monday night, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, the Director of Health Services, and the Director of Medical Education. This decision comes in response to the demands of agitating junior doctors.
Following a meeting with the medical professionals, Banerjee described the discussions as “fruitful,” asserting that nearly “99 per cent of their demands have been accepted.” The new Kolkata Police Commissioner’s name will be revealed after 4 PM on Tuesday, Banerjee confirmed.
The Chief Minister urged the doctors to resume their duties, emphasizing that most of their demands have been met. She reassured them that no punitive actions would be taken against the doctors and called for their return to work, highlighting the impact on patients due to the ongoing strike.
