Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Pushes for Swift Justice in AgriGold Scam Case
The Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, Neerab Kumar Prasad, has called for urgent action to ensure timely justice for the victims of the AgriGold scam. In a review meeting held at the state secretariat on Tuesday, Prasad emphasized the importance of resolving the case swiftly to facilitate the return of assets to the affected depositors. He instructed the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) and other relevant departments to take necessary steps to expedite the process.
CID IG Vineet Brijlal presented an in-depth PowerPoint presentation during the meeting, outlining the scale of the AgriGold scam. He revealed that the fraud, which spanned across nine states, involved approximately ₹6,380 crore collected from 1.9 million depositors. To date, 23 Government Orders (GOs) have been issued to address the situation. Brijlal assured that efforts are underway to fast-track the resolution of these cases.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Abhishekh Kishore, VC and MD of AP IIC, G. Pratibha Devi, Secretary of the Legal Department, and Vijay Kumar, Special Secretary in the Home Department. DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao and other officials participated virtually. The ongoing efforts reflect the state’s commitment to delivering justice and ensuring that the victims of the AgriGold fraud are compensated appropriately.
