Abu Dhabi: Air Arabia, the leading low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, announced today the commencement of its inaugural flight to Basra, Iraq from Sharjah International Airport.
The new route, operating four times weekly, enhances Air Arabia’s network connectivity between Sharjah and Basra, supplementing existing direct routes to Baghdad, Najaf, and Erbil from Sharjah.
Upon arrival at Basra International Airport, the Air Arabia aircraft received a traditional water cannon salute and hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives from both Air Arabia and Basra International Airport.
Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, commented, “The launch of Air Arabia’s flights to Basra represents a significant milestone in our commitment to providing affordable travel options across the region. This new service facilitates direct connectivity between the two cities, offering our customers value-driven products and services while strengthening travel and trade relations between the two countries.”
