New Delhi: Bharti Airtel and Google Cloud announced a strategic long-term partnership on Monday, aimed at accelerating cloud adoption and deploying generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) solutions in India.

This collaboration will empower Airtel customers with a comprehensive suite of advanced cloud solutions from Google Cloud, expediting cloud adoption and modernization efforts. Both entities will collaborate to develop cutting-edge AI/ML solutions, leveraging Airtel’s extensive dataset for training purposes.

Gopal Vittal, Managing Director & CEO of Bharti Airtel, expressed satisfaction with the partnership in a statement, stating, “We are pleased to collaborate with Google Cloud to address this market opportunity, offering secure and scalable cloud solutions tailored for government, enterprises, and emerging businesses.”

He further added, “Together, we aim to expedite the deployment of GenAI in the nation, unleashing its potential to address various challenges.”

The alliance targets the expansive and burgeoning Indian public cloud services market, projected to reach $17.8 billion by 2027 according to IDC. Airtel also intends to offer a suite of cloud-managed services to its customer base comprising over 2,000 large enterprises and one million emerging businesses.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, emphasized the aim of the partnership to explore and develop transformative solutions to enhance Airtel’s customer experiences.

Additionally, Airtel has crafted an end-to-end IoT (Internet of Things) solution tailored for the utility sector, integrating connectivity, Google Cloud services, and application software into a single offering.

To bolster its cloud-based solutions portfolio, Airtel has established a managed services center in Pune, housing over 300 experts who are undergoing training to champion Google Cloud services and pioneer cutting-edge technological solutions.
