Allegations of sexual abuse against a suspended NDA Lok Sabha candidate from Karnataka have sparked criticism from Union Minister Amit Shah, who rebuked the Congress for perceived inaction. Video footage purportedly showing Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and an NDA candidate, engaging in sexual misconduct with multiple women surfaced following state polls. Revanna, currently contesting in the Lok Sabha elections and an incumbent MP from Karnataka’s Hassan constituency, has denied the allegations, claiming the videos were manipulated.
Shah urged the Congress-led state government to address the issue promptly, emphasizing the BJP’s stance on women’s empowerment. He called for a thorough investigation into the matter and urged Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi to intervene.
Meanwhile, amidst growing scrutiny, Revanna purportedly left for Germany shortly after the scandal came to light. Karnataka authorities have initiated legal action against him, with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the allegations. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced plans to request Revanna’s return to India for questioning.
In response, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for allegedly neglecting to address the matter. She questioned their failure to prevent Revanna, whom she accused of committing crimes against women, from leaving the country unnoticed, contrasting it with their alleged vigilance regarding her own travel movements.
