The Government of Telangana on Wednesday announced the winners of the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2024, celebrating excellence in Telugu cinema. Leading the list was Allu Arjun, who bagged the Best Actor award for his powerful performance in the blockbuster film Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Expressing his gratitude on social media, the actor wrote:
“I am truly honoured to receive the first Best Actor award for Pushpa 2 at the #GaddarTelanganaFilmAwards 2024. Heartfelt thanks to the Government of Telangana for this prestigious honour.”Allu Arjun also dedicated the award to his Pushpa 2 team, especially director Sukumar:
“All credit goes to my director Sukumar garu, my producers, and the entire Pushpa team. I dedicate this award to all my fans — your unwavering support continues to inspire me.”
The second installment in the Pushpa franchise, Pushpa: The Rule, follows the intense rise of Pushpa Raj, a laborer-turned-red sandalwood smuggler, portrayed by Arjun. The film highlights his escalating conflict with his nemesis, SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, played by Fahadh Faasil.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with Sukumar Writings, the action-drama features a stellar ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Sunil, and Rao Ramesh. Since its global theatrical release on December 5, 2024, the film shattered multiple records — becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of the year, the second-highest-grossing Telugu film, and the third-highest-grossing Indian film worldwide.
Other Major Wins
In other major categories, actress Nivetha Thomas was awarded Best Actress for her performance in 35 Chinna Katha Kadu, while Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD won both Best Film and Best Director.
The Gaddar Telangana Film Awards — named in memory of revolutionary balladeer Gaddar — aim to recognize artistic brilliance and cinematic achievements within the Telugu film industry. The awards will be formally presented at a star-studded ceremony scheduled for June 14 in Hyderabad.
