RCB’s historic Indian Premier League (IPL) triumph in 2025 has set off celebrations beyond the cricketing world, with a host of film celebrities joining millions of fans in congratulating the team on their long-awaited victory.
Prominent actors from South Indian cinema, including Allu Arjun, Vijay Deverakonda, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, and director Rathna Kumar, were among the first to express their joy as Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted their maiden IPL trophy after 18 seasons of heartbreak and hope.
Telugu superstar Vijay Deverakonda shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“Congratulations to @RCBTweets, all RCB fans. You have waited with so much energy and passion and love. It’s a happy happy moment to see.”
Tamil actor Shanthanu Bhagyaraj echoed similar sentiments:
“Congratulations @RCBTweets. It’s been a long wait… What a journey as a team you’ve had. To all the fans who’ve loyally supported for 18 years, you deserve this celebration. #IPL2025Final. Well played @PunjabKingsIPL – great season, but hard luck in the finals. An emotional moment to see @imVkohli breaking down into tears. Ee saala cup nimmaadu!”
Leading Telugu actor Allu Arjun also joined the celebration, saying:
“The wait is over. ‘Ee sala cup namde!’ At last! We’ve been waiting for this day for 18 years. A big, big congratulations to RCB!”
Celebrated Tamil filmmaker Rathna Kumar paid tribute to RCB’s resilience, particularly that of Virat Kohli. Sharing a stat sheet of Kohli’s IPL journey dating back to 2008, he posted: “Dear RCB fans, this is how it feels to win a trophy. Enjoy the moment. Hope the fire inside Kohli stays the same. See you next season. Congrats. #RCBvPBKS”
RCB’s six-run win over Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium marked the end of one of cricket’s most enduring title droughts. Defending a total of 190/9 — bolstered by determined knocks and despite a strong bowling effort from Arshdeep Singh (3/40) and Kyle Jamieson (3/38) — the Bengaluru bowlers held their nerve. Their disciplined performance restricted Punjab to 184/7 in 20 overs, securing a historic victory.
The emotional scenes following the final whistle — from Virat Kohli’s tears to jubilant fans flooding streets across Karnataka — were made even more special by the outpouring of love from India’s film fraternity. With Bollywood and South Indian cinema stars joining hands with cricket fans, RCB’s moment of glory has transcended sport — becoming a cultural celebration.
