Amala Akkineni Condemns Konda Surekha’s Controversial Remarks, Calls for Accountability
Konda Surekha, a minister in Telangana, has faced significant backlash for her recent comments regarding the personal lives of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. In a bid to draw political mileage, she alleged that KTR, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), was responsible for the couple’s divorce and made other outrageous claims about drug abuse and early marriages among actresses.
The remarks have been met with widespread condemnation from various quarters, including Samantha, Nagarjuna, and KTR, who all denounced the politicization of personal matters. Nagarjuna’s wife, Amala Akkineni, made her first tweet in two years to express her outrage at Konda Surekha’s comments.
In her tweet, Amala described the minister’s comments as “shocking,” labeling her behavior as “demonizing” and “preying on decent citizens.” She criticized Konda Surekha for relying on baseless allegations and called for accountability among political leaders.
“Madam Minister, do you rely and believe people with no decency to feed you utterly scandalous stories about my husband without an iota of shame or truth? This is really shameful,” Amala stated.
She further questioned the implications of such behavior on the nation’s political landscape, stating, “If leaders lower themselves into the gutter and behave like criminals, what will happen to our country?”
Amala also directed her message to Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, urging them to address the situation and hold Konda Surekha accountable for her comments. “If you believe in human decency, please restrain your politicians and make your minister retract her venomous statements with an apology to my family,” she implored.
The incident highlights the growing concern over the intersection of personal lives and politics, with many calling for greater sensitivity and responsibility from public figures.
