Amit Shah Vows to Eradicate Naxalism from India by 2026 After Bijapur Attack

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has vowed to eliminate Naxalism from India by March 2026 in the wake of a tragic Maoist attack in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, where nine personnel of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) lost their lives in an IED blast. The attack, attributed to Naxal insurgents, has once again highlighted the ongoing challenges posed by the Maoist insurgency in parts of the country.

Expressing his deep sorrow over the deaths of the DRG personnel, Shah offered his heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers. He stated, “The sorrow experienced by the families of these brave soldiers cannot be described in words,” underscoring the emotional toll of the incident. Amit Shah further assured the nation that the sacrifice of these brave men would not go in vain, and the government would continue its fight against Naxalism with renewed resolve.

In his statement, Shah outlined a clear and decisive commitment to root out the Maoist insurgency from Indian soil by March 2026. He emphasized that the government would not rest until every remnant of Naxalism is eradicated. “The government’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism is unwavering, and we are determined to ensure that no Maoist groups remain in the country beyond next year,” he added.

This statement comes amid a continuing series of Naxal attacks in regions such as Chhattisgarh, which have raised concerns about the persistence of Maoist activities in certain parts of the country. Shah assured that the government is taking comprehensive measures to tackle this insurgency. These efforts include a combination of enhanced security measures, the use of advanced technology, and a focus on developmental initiatives to improve infrastructure and address socio-economic challenges in affected areas.

The recent attack in Bijapur, which claimed the lives of DRG personnel, has drawn attention to the need for stronger counter-insurgency strategies and greater coordination between state and central security forces. Shah’s pledge to wipe out Naxalism by 2026 signals the government’s firm stance against the Maoist threat and its commitment to ensuring peace and security in the affected regions.

With the timeline set, the government is expected to intensify efforts across multiple fronts, aiming for a comprehensive resolution to the Naxal insurgency in the coming years.
