Andhra Pradesh Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh has announced a comprehensive plan to elevate the state’s film sector under the guidance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. Durgesh unveiled the initiative at the trailer launch of the upcoming thriller ‘Bhairavam’, pledging full government support for industry growth.
“Andhra Pradesh boasts spectacular locations that filmmakers already love,” Durgesh noted. “However, to attract larger productions, we must build world-class infrastructure—state-of-the-art studios, dubbing facilities, and re-recording theaters.”
Key components of the proposed policy include:
- Studio Development Grants: Financial incentives for private and public studio construction.
- Post-Production Hubs: Subsidies for establishing modern dubbing and sound-mixing theaters.
- Location Incentives: Streamlined permissions and fiscal benefits for shoots in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, and other scenic locales.
Durgesh also pledged to revive the prestigious Nandi Awards, dormant for several years, with an imminent announcement of winners. “We will convene a summit of leading producers, directors, and actors to ensure our policies align with industry needs,” he added.
Looking ahead, the government aims to position Visakhapatnam as a cinematic powerhouse akin to Hyderabad. “Our goal is clear: to work 100% for the film industry’s development and make Andhra Pradesh a preferred destination for filmmakers nationwide,” Minister Durgesh affirmed.
