Vijayawada: Police have arrested an accused in the case of stone-pelting on AP CM Jagan while he was conducting a roadshow in Vijayawada. Satish Kumar alias Satti of Vaddera Colony, Ajitsinghnagar has been included as A1. After a long investigation, the accused was produced before Magistrate Ramana Reddy in the Principal Junior Civil Judge-cum-Metropolitan Magistrate Court of the city on Thursday afternoon. On the night of 13th of this month, CM Jagan was injured on the forehead in a stone pelting incident while the ‘Memanta Sidham’ roadshow was going on at Dabakotla Road in Singhnagar, a suburb of Vijayawada. Ex-minister Velampally Srinivas, who was next to him, was hit by the same stone and suffered a slight injury to his eye. It is known that the Singhnagar police have registered a case under Section 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) and Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC based on the complaint given by Velampalli. In this case, it was concluded that Satish, who was arrested three days ago, had thrown a stone at the Chief Minister. Police stated in the remand report that when the roadshow reached Vivekananda School on Daba Kotla Road at 8.04 pm on the 13th, Satish took out a sharp concrete stone from his pocket and threw it at the CM. It is mentioned that A2 pushed him to attack him with stone. After arguments in the court, the magistrate remanded the accused for 14 days.

Attempted murder for a small injury?
Salim and Rajasekhar, lawyers for the accused, argued that the chief minister sustained a minor injury in the incident, and that the roadshow went on as normal after the first treatment, and that the police should not register a case of attempted murder for this injury. Instead of section 307, it was requested to change it under 323. He said that the accused has no political background and is a common man. He has no enmity with the Chief Minister. It was argued that the stone attack was brought up as part of a political drama as it was election time. All this is being done for sympathy in elections. Jud Plus said that the Chief Minister, who was under security, was targeted and attacked with a stone, which is far from true and unbelievable.

Intentional assault
APP Krishnakishore, appearing for the prosecution, argued that the accused Satish had attacked the chief minister with a stone as part of a pre-conspiracy. They said that there is a criminal conspiracy behind this and to uncover it, the accused should be remanded. APP argued that the attack was carried out at the instigation of A2. He said that this attack was done to end the CM. He said that in 2021, when he was a minor, he went to a juvenile home for 6 months in a cell phone theft case. There were heated arguments between the two sides on the date of birth of the accused. The police submitted a certificate stating that Satish was born in 2005 in the court. According to this APP argued that Major. The lawyers for the accused denied this and argued that he is a minor as per the date in Aadhaar. The magistrate said that only the date registered at the time of birth will be taken into consideration, and the Major decided the same. After being remanded, the accused was taken to the central jail in Nellore by the police.

Allowance of search warrant petition
Lawyer Salim filed a search warrant petition in the court on Thursday morning for the whereabouts of the six persons detained by the police in this case. Judge Ramana Reddy allowed this petition. To this extent, advocate Srikanth has been appointed as advocate commissioner. The magistrate gave permission for inspections at Singhnagar station, West ACP office and Police Commissioner’s office. According to this, the Advocate Commissioner made inspections at these three places. While executing this warrant, the accused Satish was produced in the court by the police. Four minors were left behind. Durga Rao was kept in their custody. Durga Rao was nowhere to be found in the three areas. To this extent, Srikanth will submit a report to the court on Friday.
