Andhra Pradesh to Conduct Transparent Land Survey to Curb Illegal Activities: Revenue Minister
Andhra Pradesh’s Revenue Minister, Anagani Satyaprasad, announced that the state government would conduct a transparent and comprehensive land survey to prevent illegal activities and ensure proper land management. This statement was made during a regional revenue conference held at the Visakhapatnam Collectorate on Tuesday, which was attended by collectors, joint collectors, and lawmakers from the Uttarandhra districts.
During the conference, the minister reviewed 12 critical administrative issues concerning the department. Addressing the media afterward, along with Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, TDP State President Palla Srinivasa Rao, and MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi, Satyaprasad criticized the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government for not following the proper guidelines while conducting a land resurvey initiated under central government directives. He accused public representatives and officials of manipulating the survey for personal gain.
The minister revealed that over 98,000 complaints had been received related to land irregularities, involving around four lakh acres of land. He emphasized that these issues were being thoroughly reviewed, and corrective measures would be taken to resolve the disputes.
Satyaprasad highlighted that revenue conferences had already been conducted in 6,680 villages, uncovering various irregularities, particularly concerning freehold lands. Complaints about land encroachments and tampering with records in Visakhapatnam were also raised, and the minister assured that strict action would be taken against those found guilty after a detailed inquiry.
Further, the minister announced that a streamlined process would be implemented to provide digital records for lands that are cleared from encumbrances. Under the “Mee Bhoomi – Mee Hakku” initiative, the government is working towards digitizing revenue records to eliminate disputes and ensure greater transparency.
Special Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department RP Sisodia and CCLA Jayalakshmi were also present at the conference, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and addressing land-related issues across the state.
