Vijayawada:The police in their investigation report stated that if the sharp cement concrete stone thrown by the accused on CM YS Jagan had hit a sensitive area on the head of the Chief Minister instead of on the eyebrow, there would have been a threat to his life. The court agreed with them stating that a case of attempt to murder under IPC 307 was registered because this matter was confirmed. The accused Vemula Satishkumar was remanded for 14 days. Later, the police shifted him to Nellore sub-jail.
Earlier.. when the accused in this case was produced in the Vijayawada Principal Junior Civil and Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, the arguments between the lawyers of both sides went into a heated argument. While the lawyer for the accused tried to sidestep the case of attempted murder, Additional Public Prosecutor Kishore, who appeared for the police, effectively rebutted those arguments. It is noteworthy that the lawyer for the accused argued on the basis of the videos made viral on TDP social media. It was argued that the Chief Minister was not hit by a stone, Gajamala was scratched by an iron wire, and that no one instigated the accused Satish to carry out the attack.
But, APP Kishore refuted these claims. Citing the points mentioned in the remand report of the police, it was brought to the attention of the court that there was a conspiracy to assassinate CM YS Jagan. The report given by the government hospital officials on the severity of the injuries sustained by CM Jagan and MLA Velampalli Srinivas was submitted to the court. A case of attempted murder has been registered because it has been confirmed that if the sharp cement concrete stone used by the accused had hit CM Jagan’s forehead instead of on his forehead, there would have been a threat to his life.
On this occasion, APP also cited the judgment given by the Supreme Court in the Kedar Yadav case of Madhya Pradesh. He said that the police investigation along with the evidence revealed that the accused Vemula Satish attempted to kill CM Jagan with the instigation of some conspirators. APP Kishore disproved the contention of the accused Satish’s lawyer that he was a minor. The police earlier submitted the birth certificate issued by the corporation to the accused Sati in the court.
Based on that, the accused was found to be 19 years old. The court remanded Satish for 14 days. Later, the police shifted him to Nellore sub-jail for security reasons. It is reported that the police are planning to file a petition in the court asking the accused Satish to be taken into police custody in order to get more information in this case.
