Andhra Pradesh Political Leaders’ Affidavits: A Comparative Analysis
Today marked the final day for the filing of nominations in Andhra Pradesh, with all major political figures, including Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu, and Pawan Kalyan, submitting their affidavits. Below is a comparison of the declarations made by these prominent leaders.
Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has declared that he does not own any cars, which came as a surprise to many. However, he is facing 26 cases, the highest among top-tier politicians in the state.
In contrast, former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reported owning one car, an old Ambassador. It is noteworthy that a leader who has served 14 years as Chief Minister possesses only an Ambassador. Naidu has 24 cases registered against him.
Pawan Kalyan, another prominent political figure, declared ownership of nine cars in his affidavit. His collection includes a Range Rover, a luxurious Maybach, and several Mahindra vehicles used for security purposes. Notably, the famed Varahi vehicle is not registered under his name. Kalyan is facing 8 cases.
Both Jagan Mohan Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu, who have alternated between the roles of opposition leader and Chief Minister, are provided with a government security fleet and convoy. This likely accounts for their lack of private car ownership.
