Andhra Pradesh Secures Rs 33,720 Crore Investment in Energy, IT, Tourism, and Electronics; Focus on Employment and Sustainable Growth
The Andhra Pradesh government announced significant investment commitments totaling Rs 33,720 crore from leading companies in the energy, tourism, IT, and electronics sectors. These investments are set to generate employment opportunities for 34,621 individuals through 19 new projects.
The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, convened at the Secretariat on Thursday to review and approve these proposals. Key investors include industry giants such as Bharat Electronics Limited, ATC Tyres, Wingtech Mobiles, and Daikin.
Addressing the board, CM Naidu highlighted the state’s renewed appeal to investors after a period of uncertainty. “The state had lost investor confidence due to previous policy setbacks under the YSRCP government. However, our administration’s proactive approach to industrial revival is yielding results,” he stated.
Since the coalition government took office, the SIPB has conducted six meetings over 11 months, approving investments worth Rs 4,95,796 crore across 76 projects. These initiatives are expected to create nearly 4.5 lakh jobs, underscoring strong interest from both domestic and foreign investors. Several companies have already commenced groundwork following agreement signings, with foundation stones laid for multiple projects.
Naidu emphasized the pivotal role of new government policies in attracting these investments, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining this momentum.
Addressing Environmental Concerns and Promoting Circular Economy
The Chief Minister also raised concerns over agricultural waste burning in certain regions and urged officials to implement control measures. He advocated supporting industries that transform agricultural residues into valuable products, promoting a circular economy model beneficial to both the environment and local economy.
Enhanced Monitoring Through Digital Dashboards
To ensure smooth execution of projects, CM Naidu directed officials to maintain close coordination with investors, monitoring progress rigorously from foundation to inauguration. He proposed the creation of a digital dashboard and portal to provide real-time updates on investment status and employment generation. Future SIPB meetings will focus not only on approving new projects but also reviewing progress on existing ones to maintain transparency and accountability.
Introducing Caravan Policy to Boost Tourism Infrastructure
Recognizing tourism as a key growth driver, the Chief Minister suggested developing a comprehensive caravan policy aimed at enhancing visitor experiences. “Providing a peaceful and clean environment, especially at temple towns, is crucial. We plan to expand accommodation facilities in 21 major temples through innovative projects like tented lodging to address the acute shortage of rooms,” Naidu said.
The ambitious target is to add 50,000 affordable rooms to support the booming tourism sector. Additionally, efforts will be made to enrich the spiritual ambience of aarti ceremonies along the Godavari and Krishna rivers, further elevating the state’s cultural appeal.
