Kejriwal and Atishi Congratulate Rekha Gupta as Delhi’s New Chief Minister
In a significant political development in Delhi, Rekha Gupta has been elected as the next Chief Minister of the city. Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, was selected as the leader of the BJP legislature party, clearing the way for her to assume office. The announcement came after a meeting of the BJP legislature party, led by central observers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankhar.
Gupta’s election marks the fourth time a woman will hold the position of Delhi Chief Minister, following in the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj (BJP), Sheila Dikshit (Congress), and Atishi (AAP).
Both Arvind Kejriwal, National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, and Atishi, the former Delhi CM, extended their congratulations to Gupta, wishing her success in fulfilling the promises made to the people of Delhi. Kejriwal reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the new CM for the development and welfare of the city, while Atishi expressed happiness over a woman taking the reins of Delhi’s leadership.
Gupta’s swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Thursday at Ramlila Maidan, where she will be administered the oath by Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena. Key political figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP leaders, are expected to attend the event, marking a historic moment for Delhi’s governance.
