Balakrishna, Manda Krishna Madiga, and Others Honored with Prestigious Padma Awards
Telugu film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna has been conferred with the Padma Bhushan award, one of India’s highest civilian honors, in recognition of his significant contributions to the arts. Balakrishna, a renowned figure in the Telugu film industry, received the award for his immense impact and legacy in the field of entertainment.
In addition to Balakrishna, Manda Krishna Madiga, the founder and president of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), from Telangana, was awarded the Padma Shri for his exemplary contributions to public affairs and his ongoing advocacy for social justice and rights.
Several eminent personalities from Andhra Pradesh have also been honored with the Padma Shri this year. Among them are Miriyala Apparao (arts), K.L. Krishna (literature), Madugula Nagaphani Sharma (arts), and Panchamukhi Raghavacharya (literature), who have all made significant contributions to their respective fields.
Additionally, Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, a celebrated medical professional, was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his exceptional contributions to the medical field.
Other notable awardees across the nation include Kannada actor Anant Nag, Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, senior Tamil actress Shobana, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, hockey player Sreejesh, and public figures like Bibek Debroy, Manohar Joshi, and Sushil Kumar Modi. These individuals have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to the arts, literature, public affairs, and sports.
The Government of India announced a total of 139 Padma awards for this year, including 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri honors, celebrating the diverse achievements of citizens from all walks of life.
