Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar Criticizes Congress on Farmer Loan Waivers
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has launched a staunch critique against the Congress party and its leader Sonia Gandhi concerning the issue of loan waivers for farmers. Addressing media today, Kumar accused Gandhi of failing to deliver on her promise of comprehensive loan relief to farmers.
Kumar alleged that Sonia Gandhi’s pledge to waive loans amounting to Rs 40,000 crore fell short, with only Rs 17,000 crore being waived. “Farmers were deceived by Sonia Gandhi’s unfulfilled promises,” Kumar asserted.
The Karimnagar MP further condemned the Congress government for its failure to implement several key welfare schemes, including Rythu Bharosa, Vidya Bharosa, and the Mahalakshmi scheme. He criticized the Congress for diverting public attention from these issues by focusing on the purported merger between the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “When the Congress is asked about its failures, it deflects by discussing the alleged BRS-BJP merger,” Kumar remarked.
Kumar also suggested that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) might have influenced the suppression of various high-profile cases, including those related to Kaleswaram, drugs, and phone tapping. He claimed that there are rumors suggesting KCR’s successful merger with Congress, despite earlier claims of imprisoning KCR and his family. “It seems both the BRS and Congress are adept at family rule, which is why they might be aligning,” Kumar commented.
Addressing rumors of a potential BRS merger with the BJP, Kumar denied any such intentions. “The BJP does not need to merge with the BRS. Such a merger could jeopardize BJP’s prospects in the state. The Congress is more in need of such a merger due to internal rivalries over leadership positions,” he stated.
Kumar also expressed concerns over the Congress-led government’s handling of irrigation issues in Karimnagar. He urged the administration to address these concerns promptly to avoid negative impacts on agriculture and drinking water availability.
Earlier in the day, BRS MLA T. Harish Rao echoed similar criticisms regarding the Congress government’s failure to deliver on farmer loan waivers.
As the political discourse intensifies, Kumar’s remarks highlight ongoing tensions and controversies surrounding key political and administrative issues in Telangana.
