Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Predicts BRS-Congress Merger Amidst Political Statements
Hyderabad: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay made headlines on Friday with his prediction that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party is set to merge with the Congress. Sanjay suggested that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) would likely receive a position within the All India Congress Committee (AICC), while his son, K. T. Rama Rao (KTR), might be appointed as the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief. Additionally, he forecasted that BRS MLC K. Kavitha would secure a Rajya Sabha seat.
Sanjay criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent statement, which suggested that the BRS might merge with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “I strongly condemn the chief minister’s statement that the BRS will merge with the BJP and that Kavitha will get bail as part of this move,” Sanjay said. He questioned whether former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s bail was a result of his party, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), merging with the BJP.
Sanjay asserted that the BRS party’s influence in Telangana is waning and emphasized that the BJP has no intention of forming an alliance with a party that has been rejected by the electorate. He further claimed that the Congress is keen on integrating the BRS into its fold, citing historical alliances between the two parties and suggesting that the Congress has been protective of BRS leaders like KCR and KTR in light of various allegations, including those related to the Kaleshwaram project, drug trafficking, and phone-tapping scandals.
This announcement from Sanjay adds a new dimension to the ongoing political discourse in Telangana, highlighting the shifting dynamics and potential realignments within the state’s political landscape.
