Union Minister Giriraj Singh Receives Request for Power Loom Cluster and Support Measures in Sircilla
Hyderabad In a recent meeting held in Delhi, Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh was approached by Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, with a proposal to support the textile industry in Sircilla, Telangana. Kumar’s appeal focused on two critical areas: the establishment of a power loom cluster and the creation of a raw material depot for yarn under the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC).
Kumar, who represents Karimnagar, highlighted the significant challenges currently faced by the textile industry in Sircilla, particularly the rising costs of raw materials which have put substantial financial pressure on local weavers. In response, Kumar proposed an increase in subsidies to 80% and the introduction of zero-interest loans as immediate measures to alleviate these financial burdens and support the local weaving community.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh responded positively to the requests made by Kumar. Singh expressed a commitment to explore the feasibility of implementing the proposed subsidy and loan measures. He acknowledged the critical role these interventions could play in revitalizing the textile sector in Sircilla and pledged to work towards addressing the pressing issues raised.
The establishment of a power loom cluster in Sircilla is expected to enhance the efficiency and productivity of local weavers, while the raw material depot would help stabilize the supply and costs of essential yarn. These initiatives align with the broader goals of supporting and sustaining India’s traditional textile industries, which are vital to the economic fabric of many regions.
The positive reception of these proposals by the Union Minister marks a hopeful step towards addressing the challenges faced by the textile sector in Sircilla, and both Kumar and Singh have expressed a shared commitment to advancing these initiatives for the benefit of local weavers and the broader community.
