BCCI Rewards Indian Cricket Team with ₹58 Crores After ICC Champions Trophy Victory
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a generous cash reward of ₹58 crores for the Indian cricket team following their impressive win in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team triumphed without losing a single match, clinching their third Champions Trophy title by defeating New Zealand in the final on March 9. This victory also marked the end of a long wait for another major ICC trophy for India.
In an official statement, the BCCI expressed its delight, stating, “We are delighted to announce a cash reward of ₹58 crores for the team that won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This cash reward applies to the players, coaching and support staff, and members of the men’s selection committee.”
Dominant Performance Under Rohit Sharma’s Leadership
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India dominated throughout the tournament. They began their campaign with a commanding six-wicket win against Bangladesh, followed by another six-wicket victory over Pakistan. The team then advanced to the semifinals where they defeated Australia by four wickets before securing the title with a thrilling victory over New Zealand in the final.
BCCI’s Recognition of Excellence
The BCCI’s President, Roger Binny, and Secretary, Devajit Saikia, both acknowledged the remarkable performance and hard work of the players and support staff, stating, “The commitment of the players, coaching, and support staff, along with the selection committee members, is well-deserving of this reward. It gives us great pleasure to announce this recognition for their hard work and dedication.”
The International Cricket Council (ICC) also awarded ₹19.50 crores to Team India as part of their Champions Trophy prize money, while New Zealand, the runners-up, received ₹9.70 crores.
