New Delhi: Official sources announced on Monday that Jagat Prakash Nadda, BJP president and Union minister, has been appointed as the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha. This appointment follows the election victory of Union minister Piyush Goyal, who has now been sworn in as a member of the Lok Sabha.
In the Rajya Sabha, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge serves as the Leader of the Opposition. Additionally, eleven other members from the Upper House of Parliament are part of the Union Council of Ministers.
Congratulating Nadda on his new role, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh urged him to consider the opposition’s perspectives in the parliamentary proceedings.
“Congratulations to J P Nadda ji on his appointment as the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha. As Venkaiah Naidu garu often says — if the Leader of the House accommodates, the Opposition can cooperate,” he posted on ‘X’.
