BJP Disavows Kangana Ranaut’s Controversial Remarks on Farmers’ Protest
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has publicly distanced itself from the controversial comments made by its MP, Kangana Ranaut, regarding the farmers’ protest. On Monday, the party issued a statement expressing its disagreement with Ranaut’s remarks and directed her to refrain from making similar statements in the future.
Ranaut’s comments, made in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), suggested that the farmers’ protests against the now-repealed farm laws could have escalated into a situation akin to that in Bangladesh, characterized by extreme violence and disorder. She alleged that during the protests, “bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place,” a claim that has sparked significant controversy.
The BJP clarified that Ranaut’s statement does not reflect the party’s stance. “The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut regarding the farmers’ movement is not the opinion of the party,” the BJP said in its statement. The party emphasized that Ranaut is neither authorized nor permitted to speak on its behalf regarding policy matters.
The BJP reiterated its commitment to the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas,” and to maintaining social harmony. The party’s directive to Ranaut underscores its intention to prevent any further statements that could undermine its policies or social cohesion.
