Hyderabad: K.T. Rama Rao Demands Dismissal of Telangana Excise Minister Over Murders of BRS Functionaries
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday called for the immediate dismissal of Telangana Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao from the Cabinet, citing the murder of two BRS functionaries in Kollapur constituency within the past four months.
During his visit to Kollapur, KTR paid tribute to party functionary Sridhar Reddy, who was recently murdered by unknown assailants. KTR accused the Congress party of fostering a culture of political murders in Telangana and held Minister Jupally Krishna Rao responsible for this environment in Kollapur.
KTR alleged that Minister Jupally has introduced unprecedented factionalism in Telangana, claiming his influence is behind the two recent murders. “These atrocities would not have occurred without the minister’s support,” KTR asserted.
He demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy demonstrate integrity by immediately dismissing Jupally Krishna Rao. “This is not the first murder in this constituency. Two people have been murdered within four months. Previously, Mallesh Yadav was killed, and now Sridhar Reddy has been murdered. The government should take responsibility for these heinous acts,” KTR stated.
KTR criticized the Congress for engaging in a regime of revenge against those who did not support it in the elections and called for action against the responsible police officers. He insisted on an investigation by either a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or a judicial inquiry into the murders.
“The police were supposed to arrive within ten minutes of the incident but showed up an hour and a half later, merely as spectators. If the government and the minister are truly uninvolved, they should cooperate with an impartial investigation,” he demanded. KTR also alleged that the police were pressuring Sridhar Reddy’s father to avoid mentioning the minister’s name in any complaint.
He highlighted ongoing Congress attacks in rural areas, accusing local police of being passive observers. KTR warned that such a culture is detrimental to Telangana, noting that such incidents had not occurred in the state over the past decade. He threatened to mobilize thousands of supporters to besiege the homes of ministers and leaders if the government fails to respond to these killings and atrocities immediately.
