Amazon to Lay Off 14,000 Employees as Part of Restructuring Efforts
Amazon, the global e-commerce giant, is set to lay off approximately 14,000 employees in a strategic move aimed at streamlining operations and boosting efficiency. This round of layoffs, primarily targeting managerial positions, is expected to generate annual savings ranging from Rs. 210 crores to Rs. 360 crores, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The decision comes as part of Amazon’s ongoing restructuring process, which has already seen significant staff reductions in its Communications and Sustainability departments. The layoffs will follow the company’s previous efforts in 2022 and 2023, during which a total of 27,000 employees were let go. These moves are part of Amazon’s broader strategy to optimize operations and maintain its competitive edge in an increasingly challenging business environment.
As the company navigates this restructuring phase, it remains to be seen how these layoffs will impact its overall workforce and long-term goals. However, Amazon’s focus remains on maintaining efficiency and continuing to innovate in the highly competitive tech and e-commerce sectors.
